Description

The rain here in Michigan (USA) along with teh forest fire smoke has been horrible this year. I decided to re process some old data, as I have been getting the processing blues. In this instance, I re processed IC405 & IC410 from SHO to HOO by removing the SII into a more natural HOO palette. I kept the SHO stars, though, as I wanted a more broad color of yellow and blue stars. Everything else was reprocessed from the ground up, though. I kept the stars small, as I really wanted the texture to pop out. I have always wanted to frame these two together. I also wanted to see how much background Ha I could resolve piling on the integration time and going deep on the processing.

The Flaming Star Nebula (IC405 on the left), located in the constellation Auriga, is illuminated by the bright variable star AE Aurigae and about 1500 light years away.

The Tadpole Nebula (IC 410 on the lower right) appears to be right next to IC405, but is in fact 12,000 light years away, and much larger (100 light years across).
